South Africans had been facing rising tariffs that differed widely across municipalities and inconsistent energy supply for years. A blanket marketing message for how Stage Zero could solve both problems would not be enough to convince households to consider a switch.
What was needed was an acquisition-driven strategy that spoke directly to people’s spending patterns - showing how much they could save in their municipality, relevant to their levies and tariffs. To achieve this, Stage Zero required a campaign that combined mass reach with personalised, locally grounded communication that could spark conversion.

Stage Zero's campaign balanced broad visibility with hyper-local targeting and personalisation across 4 target cities.
Flyers were tailored for each municipality - City of Johannesburg, City of Tshwane (Pretoria), City of Cape Town , and City of eThekwini (Durban) - to reflect the specific tariffs, levies, and municipal rates that shaped household electricity costs in those areas. This localisation ensured that the savings message was relevant to each resident and demonstrated the savings they could achieve by switching to Stage Zero's solar solution.
MotionAds brought this campaign to life by turning our fleet of Uber Eats delivery bikes into moving billboards, targeted to the specific suburbs Stage Zero was looking to drive sales in. In so doing, MotionAds ensure that Stage Zero dominated local awareness and conversation in these high-density areas while ensuring flyers, attached to every Uber Eats meal, were delivered directly to the kitchen tables of their ideal customers.
The collaboration between locally targeted messaging and MotionAds’ unique activation platform elevated the campaign from a simple awareness exercise to a high-performing, acquisition-driven strategy.

Results
The campaign proved the power of acquisition-driven, hyper-local advertising. Over a seven month period, more than 50 branded delivery bikes were deployed, covering over one million branded kilometres and resulting in more than 221,000 branded deliveries, complete with in-home flyers findingtheir way onto kitchen tables across the country.
The campaign's success was such that Stage Zero extended the campaign by an additional month to maximise impact over the crutial winter period for their business. Most importantly, the regional flyer strategy resonated with households, as each flyer demonstrated real, location-specific savings that spoke directly to their financial reality and drove meaningful uptake in Stage Zero's services.
By combining collaborative creativity with targeted on-the-ground execution, the campaign converted flyer distribution and our moving billboards into an acquisition tool that drove measurable sign-ups and positioned Stage Zero as a solar provider that truly understands South African households.
