What Our Uber Delivery Data Really Tells Us About Tipping in South Africa

At face value, tipping is often interpreted as a measure of generosity. But when you examine Uber Eats delivery data across South Africa more closely, a different picture begins to emerge: one where density, lifestyle and behavioural context play a far greater role than willingness alone. Using our Uber Eats delivery tipping data from November, December and the Summer Holiday period, MotionAds analysed tipping behaviour across Western Cape, Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal. What the data suggests is not simply who tips more, but why tipping looks different across provinces.
