The Good News Drop: How MotionAds & BackaBuddy Are Supporting Our Heroes.

The festive season is a time for celebration, joy - and sometimes, pressing financial pressures. At MotionAds, we believe our drivers deserve more than just a paycheck. They deserve support, dignity, and a safety net when life gets tough. That’s why we are proud to partner with BackaBuddy, together bringing to life the Good News Drop: a campaign powered by community support, empathy, and real impact.

What is the Good News Drop (and the Heroes Fund)

Good News Drop is BackaBuddy’s seasonal upliftment campaign, designed to shine a light on uplifting, community-focused stories across South Africa. Through this initiative, various campaigns are shared: From education and medical needs, to community upliftment and support for those facing hardships.

For MotionAds, together with BackaBuddy, we have introduced the “Heroes Fund” under this umbrella: a special campaign dedicated to our drivers. It’s a way to turn the spotlight away from campaigns and advertising, and onto the real human stories behind every ride, every delivery, every effort.

The Heroes Fund enables our drivers to access help when it matters most:

  • Medical emergencies or health-related expenses.
  • School fees, uniforms or support for their children’s education.
  • Covering essential living costs or unpredictable financial burdens.
  • Supporting their families during difficult seasons.

This fund is not about handouts. It’s about dignity. It’s about helping the very people who keep our wheels turning stay afloat, especially during a time like year-end when demands and expenses often increase.

Good News Drop: More Than a Campaign - A Movement

BackaBuddy frames itself not simply as a crowdfunding platform - but as a movement: “Every Rand grows a result. Every story grows a Giver.”

This resonates deeply with us at MotionAds. We aim to uplift our drivers not only through the work they do, but by giving them access to support networks, community goodwill, and meaningful help when hardship strikes. Good News Drop allows us to turn stories into support, and everyday people into supporters.

Importantly, BackaBuddy’s model ensures that every bit of generosity goes where it matters. In 2025, the platform adopted a 0% platform-fee structure for campaigns and fundraisers - meaning more of what is donated actually reaches the people who need it, rather than being absorbed by overheads.

Why This Matters: Celebrating Drivers this Festive Season

Delivery drivers are often the unsung heroes of the festive season. They work through traffic, rain, late nights - all while the world around them shops, celebrates, and reunites with loved ones.

But the spotlight usually falls on the packages and the campaigns, not the people carrying them. With the Good News Drop, we’re changing that narrative.

By giving our drivers access to the Heroes Fund, we’re acknowledging:

  • That their work matters: not just for MotionAds, but for families, communities and individuals across SA.
  • That life doesn’t always wait for convenience: emergencies, medical needs, school fees, family duties don’t follow a schedule.
  • That support shouldn’t be conditional or limited to “when there’s profit.” It should be human, timely, meaningful.

This festive season, the Good News Drop stands not only for giving, but for remembering. Remembering that behind every delivery, there’s a person supporting a family. And sometimes, giving that person a lift matters as much as delivering a package.

Our Commitment: More Than Campaigns - Real Impact

At MotionAds, we’ve always believed in delivering more than campaigns. We believe in delivering opportunity, dignity, and hope.

Our collaboration with BackaBuddy through the Good News Drop is more than a festive activation. It’s a statement: that we value our drivers not just as contractors or workers, but as people with lives, families, needs, and dreams.

Through this initiative, we’re building:

  • A safety net for our drivers and their loved ones.
  • A community of supporters - of everyday South Africans who believe in upliftment.
  • A model for purposeful collaboration - where business, platform and people come together for more than profit.

Celebrate - and Support - the Good News Drop

This festive season - and beyond - we invite everyone to read, share, and support the stories behind the Good News Drop. Whether you’re a partner, client, friend, or supporter, your contribution helps more than one person - it helps families stay afloat, dreams stay alive, and dignity stay intact.

Because at the end of the day, the most powerful campaigns are not the ones we run - but the lives we uplift.
